Provisions of the Amnesty Bill

Video is attached.  Some of the text in the bill would make it better to be an alien than a citizen right now.  Background checks may not be completed before the 24 hours it would take to become legal.  We, the taxpayers, get to pay for their lawyers.  Temporary visas that can be renewed forever, gang members eligible, our money would go to Mexico to help keep their citizens in their country. And there's more.  Only a couple of minutes long; worth watching.

Why is there suffering?

This is a really good article that I stumbled upon today.  I have been thinking about this topic lately for a number of different reasons.  One of the more important concepts in the text is this:

God has a good plan for your life (Jer 29:11), but He doesn’t force us to walk in our destiny. We are free moral agents with the ability to choose. God is not the author of my problems. He has good things in store for me. My problems are my own making, an attack of the devil, or just the result of living on a fallen planet. My heavily Father has never done me any harm and He never will.

It is hard sometimes to reconcile God's love with a life on earth that includes pain and hardship.  If He is in control of our lives, if He loves us, why does He let things happen the way they do?  Read on; the author does a better job at explaining than I could.

Who's really to blame?

This was emailed to me back in October 2008.  I liked it back then and, when I got it from someone else today, I still do.  It is a reminder and, to some, a lesson about who is ultimately accountable for the decisions that shape our country and that they are still, ultimately, accountable by us, the citizens of the United States.

545 People
By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.  Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits?  Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget.   The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations.   The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices  545 human beings out of the 300 million  are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

The future as the UN sees it

The attached PDF is the how-to guide for legislating away firearms published by the UN.  Chapter 3 is interesting as it shows how they would like to control civilians.  Much of this as already been put in place; more in some countries than others.  Since here in the U.S. the 2nd Amendment was added to ensure the natural right of all law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms, some of these points in the "guide" have not been enacted.  Rest assured they would like to anyway.  The PDF attached is approximately 1.2MB.

The Carpenter's Glasses

My mother's father worked as a carpenter. On this particular day, he was building some crates for the clothes his church was sending to orphanages in China. On his way home, he reached into his shirt pocket to find his glasses, but they were gone When he mentally replayed his earlier actions, he realized what had happened; the glasses had slipped out of his pocket unnoticed and fallen into one of the crates, which he had nailed shut. His brand new glasses were heading for China!

The Great Depression was at its height and Grandpa had six children. He had spent $20 for those glasses that very morning. He was upset by the thought of having to buy another pair. It's not fair, he told God as he drove home in frustration. I've been very faithful in giving of my time and money to your work, and now this.
