The hairbrush

For those of you who do not know Beth Moore, she is an outstanding Bible teacher, writer of Bible studies, and is a married mother of two  daughters. This is one of her experiences:

April 20, 2005, at the Airport in Knoxville, waiting to board the plane, I had the Bible on my lap and was very intent upon what I was doing.  I'd had a marvelous morning with the Lord.  I say this because I want to tell you it is a scary thing to have the Spirit of God really working in you.  You could end up doing some things you never would have done otherwise. Life in the Spirit can be dangerous for a thousand reasons not the least of which is your ego.

I tried to keep from staring, but he was such a strange sight.  Humped over in a wheelchair, he was skin and bones, dressed in clothes that obviously fit when he was at least twenty pounds heavier.  His knees protruded from his trousers, and his shoulders looked like the coat hanger was still in his shirt.  His hands looked like tangled masses of veins and bones.

Second revolution

Not sure why, but this video struck a chord in me. I am not a paranoid person. Generally I tend to think that things will not be as bad as some others do. However, with .gov getting bigger by the hour, the threat of more of our freedoms being regulated, stories of military performing "training" ops on the streets of small towns... I think I have been a little too trusting. This depicts the first day of the second American revolution, one of the many possible outcomes...

Cletus take the reel

This made me laugh. Good stuff...

Obviously he's right

The American people must not care if the polls show over 50% approval. But, seriously, he stands there and admits to the pork in the stimulus and casually goes on with a big fat grin on his face...

Yuck. So the House and Senate both passed this thing but with different disbursements. There will be a redraft and another vote. PLEASE contact your reps and tell them to vote this down.

Stimulus or hostile takeover?

This is getting just ridiculous.

According to President Obama, the United States “may never recover” if we don’t pass the following funding measures in the stimulus package (read the whole list ):

$50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts

$380 million in the Senate bill for the Women, Infants and Children's program

$300 million for grants to combat violence against women

$6 billion for university building projects (many of which have multi-million dollar endowments)

$1.2 billion to provide youth summer jobs (this bill defines "youths" as people up to the age of 24)

$2.4 billion for neighborhood stabilization activities

$650 million for digital TV coupons

$150 million for the Smithsonian Institution

$34 million to renovate the Department of Commerce headquarters

$500 million for the improvement projects for the National Institute of Health facilities

$44 million for repairs to the Department of Agriculture headquarters

$350 million for Agriculture Department computers

$88 million to move the Public Health Service into a new building. Not for a new building, mind you – to help PHS move to a new building.

Born between 1930 and 1979?

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's! Read the whole post .

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.
