Stop sugarcoating the Bible

I thought this was a pretty interesting, thought provoking post.  Seen at :

The Bible is a gritty book. Very raw. Very real. It deals with people just like us, just as needy and screwed up as we are, encountering a God who would rather die than spend eternity without them.

Yet despite that, it seems like Christians are uncomfortable with how earthy the Bible really is. They feel the need to tidy up God.

For example, look in any modern translation of Isaiah 64:6, and you’ll find that, to a holy God, even our most righteous acts are like “filthy rags.” The original language doesn’t say “filthy rags”; it says “menstrual rags.” But that sounds a little too crass, so let’s just call them filthy instead.

And let’s not talk so much about Jesus being naked on the cross, and let’s pretend Paul said that he considered his good deeds “a pile of garbage” in Philippians 3:8 rather than a pile of crap, as the Greek would more accurately be translated.

And let’s definitely not mention the six times in the Old Testament that the Jewish writers referred to Gentile men as those who “pisseth against the wall.” (At least the King James Version got that one right.)

The point?

U.N. Maps Show U.S. High in Gun Ownership, Low in Homicides

Interesting maps from :

Maps made by the U.N. office on Drugs and Crime (circa 2007) clearly show that where gun ownership is highest in the world, crime is lowest on a per capita basis.

For example, here is the map for gun ownership:

Notice the high levels of private gun ownership per 100 people in the United States versus the rest of the world.

Now, here is the map for homicides:

Notice the correlation between high gun ownership and lower homicide rates.

This fact will be extremely important to keep in mind in March when the U.N. revisits the , which the Obama administration and other 2nd Amendment opponents will want us to embrace as a solution to the supposed heightened violence in America versus other countries.

As these maps show, "more guns, less crime" is true internationally as well as domestically.

Rep. Pelosi Lies, Claims Obamacare had 5 Times More Enrollees Than it Actually Does

Read at :

In case you forgot about her (and who wouldn’t want to forget about her) Democrat Representative Nancy Pelosi is still out there lying with the best–or worst–of them. This time Pelosi is claiming that 500,000 Americans signed up for Obamacare when even Obama’s own numbers state that only 100,000 did so.

Pelosi was once the Speaker of the House of Representatives, now, thankfully, she is a minority leader with little power or influence. But she is still spinning left-wing lies and this one is a whopper.

Pelosi–or as some wags call her “Pelousey”–took to  to trumpet the many hundreds of thousands of new enrollees in Obamacare.

FACT: Despite website glitches, ≈1m have applied and are eligible to on marketplaces. 500,000 have already secured coverage

But, even the Department of Health and Human services from Obama’s own administration is that only 100,000 were able to sign up and get new insurance.

HHS says that only 106,185 people were able to pick a new plan from Obamacre as of November 2. THat is a far cry from the 500,000 Pelosi said signed up.

Republican Congressman Pete Olson Files Articles of Impeachment Against Eric Holder

Found at :

Congressman Pete Olson says it’s .

Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) has introduced an Articles of Impeachment resolution against Attorney General Eric Holder for his role in Operation Fast and Furious and other scandals of President Barack Obama’s administration.

Seven congressman have signed onto the resolution thus far in addition to Olson. They are Reps. Larry Bucshon (R-IN), Blake Farenthold (R-TX), Phil Roe (R-TN), Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA), Roger Williams (R-TX), Ted Yoho (R-FL), and Randy Weber (R-TX).

The Articles of Impeachment has four different sections. The first calls for Holder’s official removal because of his failure to comply with congressional subpoenas relating to Operation Fast and Furious. Holder has been voted on a bipartisan basis into both criminal and civil contempt of Congress for his failure to comply with the Fast and Furious subpoenas from House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA).

The second section of the Articles of Impeachment deals with Holder’s refusal to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), the Controlled Substances Act, and the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986.

New Undercover Video Catches Obamacare ‘Navigators’ Advising Potential Applicant to 'Lie'

Whoopsie!  This should, and eventually does, end in the sacking of a few "Navigators."  Originally seen at :

A new video produced by James O’Keefe’s seemingly shows Obamacare “navigators” in Dallas, Texas, advising a man to provide false information on his application to get more subsidies and a lower premium.

Secretly video recording the exchange, a Project Veritas “investigator” tells Obamacare navigators at the National Urban League’s offices in Dallas that he never reports his outside income when filing his taxes, which is likely untrue. The navigators then advise him not to get himself in “trouble” by reporting the income to the IRS now.

Later in the video, other Obamacare navigators at NUL Irving Community Center can be heard informing the Project Veritas investigator not to identify himself as a smoker in order to receive a lower health insurance premium.

“You lie because your premiums will be higher,” an Obamacare navigator “assistant” replies.

The same Obamacare navigator assistant later added, “I always lie on mine.”
