NYC: Surrender your guns immediately!

From :

A 2nd Amendment battle is brewing in New York City over the attempt to confiscate guns, after a resident allegedly received a demanding that he surrender all rifles or shotguns capable of holding over five rounds of ammunition “immediately.”

According to , it is illegal to possess any rifle or shotgun that is capable of holding more than five rounds of ammunition. The notice sent to the resident demanded  immediate compliance.  The notice said in part:

“1. Immediately surrender your Rifle and/or Shotgun to your local police precinct, and notify this office of the invoice number. The firearm may be sold or permanently removed from the City of New York thereafter.

2. Permanently remove your Rifle and/or Shotgun from New York City…

U.N. Maps Show U.S. High in Gun Ownership, Low in Homicides

Interesting maps from :

Maps made by the U.N. office on Drugs and Crime (circa 2007) clearly show that where gun ownership is highest in the world, crime is lowest on a per capita basis.

For example, here is the map for gun ownership:

Notice the high levels of private gun ownership per 100 people in the United States versus the rest of the world.

Now, here is the map for homicides:

Notice the correlation between high gun ownership and lower homicide rates.

This fact will be extremely important to keep in mind in March when the U.N. revisits the , which the Obama administration and other 2nd Amendment opponents will want us to embrace as a solution to the supposed heightened violence in America versus other countries.

As these maps show, "more guns, less crime" is true internationally as well as domestically.

Oregon School Teachers Allowed to Carry Concealed Weapons

It seems that more schools are making the change to allow for legal carry on campus.  It may not prevent someone from attempting to shoot up a school, but hopefully it would bring a quicker end with less loss of life if they did.  Seen at :

Ever since the very first school shooting in modern times, there has always been a demand for educators to be able to carry a means to defend themselves, which has become something of a concern for Oregon School teachers, among others. In fact, that is exactly what a school district inhas done. Teachers have the proper credentials to carry a weapon will be allowed to do so. Marshall Porter, who is the chairman of the St. Helens School Board, has stated that the measure would give teachers the same right as ordinary citizens.

Porter went further making the following statement: “The current law in Oregon allows for anybody to conceal carry on school grounds, to exclude our staff seems like they’re being punished. They should have a right to protect themselves if they so choose.” There are a total of seven schools that fall under Porter’s jurisdiction.

INTERPOL Chief: 'Armed Civilians' Could be Key to Preventing More Westgate Mall-Style Terror Attacks

Armed civilians?  Shocking!  The fact that this wasn't reported by the MSM isn't shocking, that part is par for the course.  :

To prevent more soft-target terror attacks like the deadly Al Shabaab strike on Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya, policymakers around the world should consider liberalizing their gun laws to allow for armed civilians, the head of the the world's largest international police institution argued in an interview with earlier this week. Unfortunately a search of Nexis finds that ABC has ignored this news development on its on-air programming. Competitors NBC and CBS have likewise censored the story.

As ABC's Josh Margolin noted, INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald Noble argued not only that an armed citizenry was a more sensible option than attempting to secure every "soft target" -- like malls, parks, and cafes -- but that it's hard to imagine a successful Westgate-style attack in the United States, particularly in gun rights-friendly states like Texas:

"Societies have to think about how they're going to approach the problem," Noble said. "One is to say we want an armed citizenry; you can see the reason for that. Another is to say the enclaves are so secure that in order to get into the soft target you're going to have to pass through extraordinary security."

Puppycide – The Documentary

Since we have a big, scary German Shepherd, this concerns me. :

Why We Began This Documentary

When we first learned about puppycide, we assumed that these must be cases of police responding to threats on their lives from dogs trained to attack by criminal owners. That couldn’t be further from the truth. We found scores of videos and news stories about dogs who were laying down, tails wagging, even running away but still shot by officers who used lethal force as their first and only response.

We were very upset by the footage and stories and felt a documentary on the topic was in need. We took our cameras on the road, reaching out to victims and capturing their experiences.
