Boise State back to the Mountain West

I didn't really buy into the move to the Big East so, although it's an expensive reversal, I'm glad to see them .

Boise State President Bob Kustra says the decision to rejoin the Mountain West Conference came down to money, stability and flexibility.

Kustra announced Monday that Boise State was pulling its football team out of the Big East Conference. The Broncos were scheduled to begin playing in the Big East next season and had already scheduled games against those teams.

But Kustra says uncertainty with the Big East's future and other factors forced university officials to reconsider.

What emerged is a unique deal with the Mountain West that for now guarantees Boise State more revenue and the ability to negotiate its own television deal.

Returning to the MWC also allows all Broncos teams to stay in one conference. Next year, non-football teams were set to join the Big West Conference.

Reports of Boise State talking about a return to MWC

Wow, will BSU move conferences again?  It sounds like it's possible that they will move back to the MWC.  :

Reports released by various sports news sites are reporting that Boise State, San Diego State and BYU may be looking to defect back to the Mountain West Conference. reports sources confirming the schools have had conversations with MWC membership after a series of events appear to be leading to the exit of Rutgers from the Big East to the Big 10 leaving the league with 11 football teams for the 2014 season.

Boise State president Dr. Robert Kustra responded to the reports Monday night in a released statement saying:

"We are in contact with the Big East Conference office and are evaluating the information that has come forward regarding conference realignment the past few days."

Kustra followed up his statement later that night, saying:

"In following up on my statement from earlier this evening and because of a report that Boise State has been talking with the Mountain West, I want to make it clear that Boise State has had no discussions with the Mountain West Conference in the past couple of weeks. %u3000We are in constant communication with presidents and athletic directors of the Big East and we intend to strengthen our the conference by adding members who can contribute to a strong conference."

Boise State Broncos bumped up to #18 in Coaches, #21 in BCS

From :

The Boise State football team jumped several spots in each of the major polls Sunday, following their 32-7 rout of UNLV at home Saturday.

The Broncos team jumped from No. 22 to No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll, from No. 23 to No. 19 in the Harris Poll, and from No. 24 to No. 21 in the Associated Press Top 25.

The coaches' poll and Harris poll are the two human components of the BCS Rankings, which will be released later Sunday.

In the coaches' poll, the Broncos (6-1) received a season-best 407 points, surpassing their previous high by 136 points.

This marks the fourth consecutive week that Boise State was included in the coaches polls, which accounts for one-third of a teams score in the BCS Standings.

The BCS Effect
While the Broncos received their biggest boost in the coaches poll this season, both Michigan and Wisconsin continued to gain momentum as well.

This weekend, the Wolverines went on the road and beat Michigan State, 12-10, while the Badgers won at home against Minnesota, 38-10.

The Broncos’ current hope of finishing in front of the Big Ten champion and climbing into the top 16 to secure the non-AQ auto bid will take a big hit if both Michigan and Wisconsin find a way to win out in the regular season. It is unlikely that Boise State could do enough with their remaining schedule (their last five opponents have a combine 14-20 record) to hold them off.
